Each project has a code, a status and the channel that covers it in depth. Finished builds become plans, catalog pieces or commissions.
The Maker Lab build-out
One 16′ × 12′ garage bay turned into a hand-tool and electronics lab: walls, power, network, light, benches and storage — built in the open, one episode at a time.
The lab workbench
A Roubo-style bench built to a 32″ working height: drawbored mortise-and-tenon joinery, a leg vise and a face vise on the left for a right-handed worker.
Tool wall & hanging cabinet
A wall-hung tool cabinet on a French cleat, with fitted holders for a permanent hand-tool set — Dutch cabinet lines with Indonesian carved details.
The work cockpit
A wraparound desk and electronics bench with a clockmaker’s concave corner cutout and bench pin — built for stools, no keyboard tray.
Flip-lid drawer banks
Full-extension drawers with dadoed bottoms and ¼″ Baltic birch lids hinged at the back that flip up out of the way — dust-free storage for small parts and tools.
Lab network & cameras
Cat5e runs, switches, a firewall and always-on cameras — so the lab can be filmed, monitored and reached securely from anywhere.
The LED sky ceiling
A wall-to-wall ceiling of individually controlled LEDs: the night sky for any date, a daytime sky with clouds, and zoned task light that follows the work.
Column-tank aquaponics
A small acrylic column tank that feeds a vegetable seedling above it — the first of the lab’s aquaponics builds.
Season 3: the main garage makeover
Clearing out the two-car garage and rebuilding it as the power-tool shop: cabinets, cleat walls, dust collection, power and a high-lift door.
